Part of the Mob

Why do big retail businesses allow, let alone create, a mob in their store? There are a variety of ways businesses like Wal-Mart can sell and distribute special sale items that don’t involve creating a mob scenario. The mob is created for one thing: Advertising. People get hurt and even die? Good. There’s no prominent backlash, just more advertising. The irony is that, if you are enticed to become part of a mob, you aren’t absolved from the potential consequences. You, in a way, deserve it. Black Friday is an advertising plan that relies on physical harm, potentially death, inflicted by customers on customers who are (for the most part) entirely aware of the risk. Well done, big retail. Well done.
